Charles Heidsieck is a relatively small company compared to the other great winemakers in Champagne. One of the first to introduce his Champagnes to America, the innovative Charles-Camille Heidsieck was also one of the first to use machine-made bottles that didn’t explode during the maturation process. He recognized the value of patiently ageing vintages, so he purchased crayères – or chalk cellars, to shelter his bottles from the effects of climate variations. He owns one of Champagne’s most beautiful crayère sites in the city of Reims itself.
Tasting Note: Lots of bready and toasty, aromas which are followed by floral notes. The palate is silky smooth, with very delicate bubbles. Lovely crisp acidity and a good finish.
