The Cedar Castle is run by brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, having taken over from their Dutch parents Léon and Marie- Thérèse, who had planted the first vines in 1958. Today Malbec based wines are developed at the winery where the brothers explore all facets of the region, creating anything from fruit-driven lighter styles to rich, persuasive longer ageing wines.
Tasting Note: Dominated by Malbec with a portion of Tannat in the assemblage, the colour of Le Prestige is dark and sanguine. On the nose, black fruits, vanilla and mineral notes combine with a fresh clay aroma. The Prestige demonstrates excellent body on the palate, with ripe tannins and black cherry fruit characters. This is a serious wine with density, finesse and aromatic persistence
