The Cedar Castle is run by brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, having taken over from their Dutch parents Léon and Marie-Thérèse, who had planted the first vines in 1958. Today Malbec-based wines are developed at the winery where the brothers explore all facets of the region, creating anything from fruit-driven lighter styles to rich, persuasive longer ageing wines.
Tasting Note: The Cèdre is a classic 100% Malbec wine with superb concentration and great potential. The nose displays complex aromas of dark fruits such as cherries, with overtones of violet and spice. Well-structured on the palate with rich fruit characters and oak to balance, there is an incredible depth and integration suggesting that this wine is one worth investing in.
