The Guilhem Estate has been in the same family for six generations and features a castle and wine cellar dating back to 1790. The Estate was built on what was once a Gallo-Roman stronghold, overlooking the Pyrenees Mountains near the ancient city of Carcassonne. The property is now managed with both passion and professionalism by Bertrand Gourdou-Guilhem. Today the 30 hectare estate spreads over sun drenched limestone hillsides and produces wines that are amongst the most prestigious in the entire Languedoc region.
Tasting Note: Deep red in colour with bright reflections, the Cuvée Prestige is a complex blend of several Atlantic varietals including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This wine has a pleasant nose with cherry and blackcurrant aromas laced with wild herbs. Well-balanced, the mouth offers black fruit flavours with hints of vanilla and spices underpinned with integrated oak characters.
