A fascinating blend of 85% Bordeaux (Cabernet:Merlot – 50:50) from Palmer’s estate in Margaux and 15% Syrah, this historical XIX Century wine is a homage to the ‘bad’ old days when Bordeaux proprietors would routinely blend the traditional Bordeaux grape varietals with Syrah for added ripeness and heft.
Assembled in 2006, this is the second vintage that Palmer have tried this experiment. As this wines is technically a Vin de Table, the vintage has been disguised as a lot number at the bottom of the bottle: L20.06
Tasting Note: On the nose lovely fresh floral notes, followed by lots of red and black fruits, as well as cedar wood and black pepper. The palate is full bodied, with prominent, ripe tannins. Extremely long finish.
