Founded just six years ago by winegrowing duo Pascal Dieunidou and Jacques Castan, Domaine L’Edre lies 30 kilometres north west of Peripignan in the town of Vingrau. The name Vingrau is derived from Latin (Vigniti Grade) meaning twenty degrees or twenty steps and in this case, it refers to the ancient path carved into the towering limestone cliffs that border the village and the surrounding vineyards. Although L’Edre is a relatively new Domaine, it is already showing some fantastic results.
Tasting Note: Inky purple in the glass, the Carrément Rouge is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan offering bitter-sweet black fruit and herbs on the nose. Intensely concentrated with firm tannins and good oak structure, this wine features black cherry, liquorice and herbal notes with an underlying minerality. The finish is long and persistent, perfectly rounding off this sumptuous wine.
