Located in the Bouches du Rhône on the northern slopes of the Alpilles and just south of Avignon, this renowned Domaine produces some of the best reds of the south. The inclusion of more than 20% Cabernet Sauvignon in their blends means that the Domaine has to produce wines under the humble Vin de Pays status, as this percentage excludes them from AOC status. The distinct labels seen on the bottles today were designed by René Dürrbach who bought the Trévallon farmhouse in 1955.
Tasting Note: Ruby colour with violet inflections, the 2005 Rouge is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah which emits a subtle fragrance of blackcurrant and wild raspberry. In the mouth, the wine is dense and the tannins firm with liquorice and roasted coffee touches. Overall this is a fantastically well-balanced, round wine.
