When James Burrough founded his distillery in London in 1863, he created many brands but Beefeater was always the most successful. The inspiration for Beefeater 24 came when Desmond Payne, the current Master Distiller, discovered that Burrough's father was a prominent tea merchant. This inspired him to include Japanese Sench and Chinese green teas along with the more usual botanicals. All the botanicals are steeped for 24 hours prior to distillation to create a smooth and subtle gin.
