Hunter was founded in Scotland in 1856, when American entrepreneur Henry Lee Norris acquired the North British Rubber Company – later to become Hunter. In the advent of the First World War, Hunter was asked to produce a sturdy waterproof boot suitable for use in flooded trenches.

The original Hunter welly, as it is recognised today, was designed in 1955 as an orthopaedic boot. Now popular with everyone from royalty to festival-goers, Hunter has royal warrants from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and most notably HM Queen Elizabeth II.- less
