MONIQUE LHUILLIER

THE SHOW: When the world outside is a flurry of melting sludge and tourists in snow boots, it's somewhat transporting to attend a show by a designer who focuses so keenly on award show glamour. Inspired by the green gemstone Malachite, the catwalk had a distinctly emerald hue, which only served to make the first few all-white looks glow brighter. White gave way to glitzier shades and a heavily embellished gold dress was reminiscent of early McQueen with its richly embellished surface and structured cap sleeve. The show quickly moved into red carpet territory but gone was the ethereal princess of season's past; Lhuillier's AW13 girl is racy and Gothic, with a palette of fiery scarlet, jade green and black.

WHO WE SAW: Models Lydia Hearst and Bridget Moynahan, and singer/actress Connie Britton.

WHAT THEY WORE: The theatre was so dark it was hard to tell, but the celebrities wore Lhuillier, of course.

IN THREE WORDS: Red Carpet Ruler.
