True holiday style - wherever the destination
Festival Fever
Ensure you are a headline act this festival season with a rave-ready wardrobe. Denim cut-offs and wellies top the bill, look to True Religion and get your kicks in a pair of Hunters. A crossbody, we love Proenza Schouler's PS1 pouch, is an essential and why not make a statement (ala Alexa Chung at Coachella) with floral-printed and statement tees. Let's hope the bands live up to your look!

Nothing provokes more anxiety come summer than the initial outing of the bare-all bikini. Ditch the fear by opting for an all-in-one. No longer dowdy or reserved solely for schoolgirls, swimsuits are regaining their cool, (Rihanna is our swimsuit idol). Zeki and Melissa Odabash have some playful cut-out styles, while Gottex’s cossies offer concealed support. Finish up with denim shorts and aviators for a look to rival Baywatch best.

If you’re planning a holiday at home this summer, make sure you pack wisely – there are many reasons to love old Blighty, but the weather isn’t one of them! Breton stripes, a trusty pair of jeans, closed-toe sandals and a straw trilby will be your style saviours, come rain or shine. Bag it all up in an oversized tote, Dolce & Gabbana’s aptly named ‘Escape Tote’ is just the ticket. Happy holidays!

Beach must-haves and a girl's best friend

The Holiday Hero
This summer, we’re filling up our trusty Stella McCartney beach bag with practical pieces that can take seawater, sand and city streets, starting with our ultimate holiday hero: Havaianas. A different colour for every day of the week, its world-famous flip flops come in a delicious range of sherbet hues for a mouth-watering holiday ensemble that won’t break the bank, even if you buy them all!

Frame Game
This summer, sunglasses get a novelty overhaul, but if tropical cocktail frames are a little bit out of your comfort zone, why not try a splash of colour or a sheer print for instant holiday eyes. Our pick of the bunch include Stella McCartney’s geometric optics and Dior’s Demoiselle range, plus Ray-Ban’s Matisse-inspired style: culture and fashion in one?

Arrivals Hall Runway
Victoria Beckham may arrive in style, but us mere mortals never feel quite so fresh after a jaunt across the Atlantic (let alone to Spain). Our essentials for a comfortable flight and an Arrivals-ready look? Multi-tasking accessories, including a chic scarf that doubles up as an in-flight blanket and a roomy tote (Mulberry's new Willow Tote is just the ticket) to keep beauty must-haves and duty-free purchases neat and tidy. Sorry, David Beckham not included!

A Girl’s Best Friend
Georg Jensen is most definitely our new best friend, thanks to his stunning edit of updated pieces exclusive to Harrods. Crafted in 18kt rose gold and studded with glittering, brilliant cut diamonds, we’ve caught The Review team sneaking off to the Sample Room to gaze at them on more than one occasion (this exclusive collection will be available online in July). They may have a designer price tag attached to them but we would gladly forgo a week in the Caribbean for first dibs on the collection.

Your holiday style sorted

New season, new you
Your summer holiday needn't be an excuse to slob around in trunks all day. Our e-shelves are bursting with fantastic new season styles that will certainly impress. Try Alexander McQueen’s Polka Dot and Skull Bowtie for impeccable flair, or Arfango’s Duke Embroidered Slip On for a funky pop of colour. Etro's Tartan Trousers certainly have that WOW factor but if your taste steers toward more muted style, Richard James' Velvet Jacket could be right up your street.

How to look and smell amazing

Eastern Promise
Just when we thought we had our favourite Tom Ford scent sorted (Café Rose), the designer has gone and launched Atelier d’Orient, a collection featuring no fewer than four new Private Blends. Intended as an olfactory exploration of Asia, it includes haunting floral Fleur de Chine, luxurious Plum Japonais, floriental Shanghai Lily and Rive D’Ambre, a golden cologne. Looks like we’ll be adding to our already vast collection.

BB cream? Been there, done that, got several tubes languishing on the dressing table. Before you dismiss multi-tasking Beauty Balm as old news, let us introduce you to the newest kid on the BB block: Dior Hydra Life BB Eye Crème is new, advanced and it’s coming for those dark circles. This clever formula combines anti-fatigue treatment, with concealer and illuminator to disguise the results of late nights, and it’s even got SPF - a must for summer peepers.

Maybe Baby
Another day, another exquisite campaign featuring Miss Delevingne, this time for Yves Saint Laurent’s new Baby Doll collection. Named after the brand’s sugar sweet perfume, the decidedly rosy range includes a new false lash effect mascara (sure to be another YSL cult product) along with pink nail polish, magenta lip lacquer, and even a shimmering rose eyeliner. If we’ve said it before, we’ll say it again, if it’s good enough for Cara...

HOLIDAY HAIRA healthy golden glow and a refreshed spirit is reason enough to take to the skies this summer, but come holiday season hair gets the raw end of the deal. Whether it’s frizz from humidity, dry salt-ravaged locks or sun-faded colour, it’s important to give your tresses a little more attention at this time of year. Read on for our guide to the best salon and at-home treatments to try this summer.
To book any of the treatments below, please contact Urban Retreat on 020 7893 8333.FRIZZ
Salon: The Brazilian Blowdry
In my experience, holidays and frizzy hair go hand-in-hand. If help could be found anywhere, it would be at Urban Retreat, so I set off to Harrods 5th Floor to try the popular Brazilian Blowdry - a semi-permanent straightening and smoothing treatment that originates from, you guessed it, Brazil.
Urban Retreat’s Oliver Daminar, A.K.A ‘Mr Straight’, has been de-frizzing women of the world for over 20 years, and as he began painting on the secret blowdry formula on to my hair, he makes a bet that this won’t be my last treatment. Once every strand is covered in the thick coconut-scented paste, I’m left for 10 minutes before Oliver returns and blowdries my hair. Finally, he runs straighteners over the hair to iron in the formula.
I left the salon with poker straight locks and instructions not to wash my hair for two days. When I finally do (with sulphate-free shampoo), the results are incredible. No products needed, it dries smooth and silky, even when left to air-dry. Oliver has managed to cheat nature, and I’m not sure how I’ll cope in three months when the results have washed out - bet lost.
Home: Ojon Rare Blend Oil
Shake to blend the layers and apply just one drop to damp hair for a glossy, frizz-free blowdry. Alternatively, for a more intense treatment, run through the lengths and leave overnight - your hair will feel soft and silky when you wash it out in the morning.

Salon: Rahua Pro Treatment
My hair is dry and damaged and I haven’t even been on holiday yet. With split-ends splaying and snapping, I sat down in Urban Retreat’s massage chair to try Rahua’s newest salon treatment. I was told ‘You’ll look like a supermodel when you walk out of here’, which seemed a tad optimistic.
Rahua is a 100% natural brand that uses Rahua oil sourced from the Amazon rainforest (it’s still harvested by hand). This particular treatment uses omega 9-rich ungurahua oil to sooth and restore the hair and scalp, and is applied at the basin after shampooing. The stylist mixed the hair mask with 7-10 drops of professional Rahua Elixir and massaged into my scalp and hair (relaxing). It was left on for 10 minutes and rinsed out.
Even when my hair was wet I could notice a difference, and when blow dried it transformed into silk: a weekend of shiny hair compliments ensued. Supermodel? Not quite, but my hair has never looked so good.
Home: Touché By Flavien Treatment
Apply this thick, lush-scented cream to damp hair after shampooing and leave for five minutes. Wash out for glossy, moisturised locks with minimal fuss or bother - a shower essential.

Salon: Pureology Mask
Sitting in strong sunlight for a week or more is guaranteed to fade your expensive salon colour. No stranger to the hair dye myself, I asked Urban Retreat’s Mattia Garbuglia for colour-saving tips.
1. Wait until after your holiday to get salon highlights or bleach. The sun may lighten your hair, spoiling your carefully chosen shade of blonde.
2. It’s safe to get all over colour done before going away, but make sure to use daily sun defence – it’s not just your skin that needs UV protection.
3. Ask your salon to use colour specific products to prolong your hair colour - try a Pureology mask post-colour to seal in your new shade.Home: Philip Kingsley Swimcap
This hero product should be in every beach bag in the land. Apply the deep conditioning formula to protect from sea water, chlorine and the sun. Simply comb through damp hair before you hit the beach for day-long protection. It’s also perfect for the pool when you get home.

The Ultimate Statement Ring

Balmy summer evenings may call for a stripped back aesthetic, but don’t let the rising temperatures prevent you from making a style statement in the sun. Instead, opt for a key piece of jewellery like this strikingly beautiful rose gold vermeil ring from need-to-know designer, Shaun Leane.
This standout piece from Leane’s iconic Cherry Blossom collection features a delicate branch-like ring on which six cherry blossoms enter full bloom.
