La Grande Dame is named in honour of Madame Clicquot – “La Grande Dame de la Champagne” it is the ultimate embodiment of her now legendary maxim: “One quality: the finest.” The grapes come from eight of the top-rated Grands Crus villages, and are carefully selected to give this wine a unique personality, blending the power of Pinot Noir with the elegance of Chardonnay. It has been aged for a minimum of six years in the ancient chalk cellars of Veuve Clicquot, in order to develop its complex aromas and subtle nuances.
Tasting note: On the nose Chardonnay characteristics come to the fore with the arrival of floral nutty, candied fruit and mineral aromas. This aromatic, impressively complex bouquet is confirmed in the mouth. On the palate the wine is clear-cut and pure, perfectly balanced with a silky smooth finish.
