This winery was founded in 1879, and is still on its original site, in Haro, Rioja Alta. The Gran Reserva is produced from grapes that have been hand-harvested from bush-pruned, low yielding, old vine vineyards. This wine is only made in the best vintages and spends at least 2 years in oak casks and 3 years in the bottle.
Tasting Note: A beautiful light ruby colour, fading to tawny near the rim. On the nose the Imperial Gran Reserva has aromas of blackcurrants, figs, leather, tobacco and spice. On the palate it has concentrated fruit flavours, good acidity, and soft round tannins. The finish is long and elegant.
