- Tasting Note:
This fortified Moscatel rests at 17.5% abv and spends 24 months in French oak before release. The result is a rich, tawny liquid, with an orange and jasmine-scented nose. A herbal note envelops the palate, reminiscent of green tea, bitter chocolate and orange peel. Zesty and complex, this delicious dessert wine will improve further with a good 20 years in the cellar.

This family-owned estate dates back to 1920 and is based in the Setúbal peninsula. Ermelinda Freitas and her husband dedicated their lives to tending the vines of the estate and now their only daughter Leonor Freitas is at the helm. In 1997 they invested in a new winery and began to bottle under the label Casa Ermelinda Freitas, in honour of Leonor’s mother. The estate produces a range of red and white wines, as well as their fortified Setubal Moscatels – a real treat in the field of dessert wines.
