Overview

Tasting Note:
Paradis Impérial was inspired by a special commission for the Russian Empress, Maria Feodorovna, in 1818 for a cognac of most exceptional quality, as a present for her son Tsar Alexander 1. The original bottle was blended by the first generation of the Filioux family and, today, seventh-generation Master Blender Yann Filioux, has reinterpreted this unique blend and created the Paradis Impérial – a cognac of outstanding rarity and finesse. This exceptional cognac is blended from several hundred rare eaux de vie, aged between 40 and 150 years old, hand-selected from Hennessy’s reserve cellar or ‘Paradis’. The result is a shimmering, amber-coloured cognac with a hint of sophisticated refinement, where aromas of jasmine and orange blossom are spiced with smoky accents. The iconic, individually numbered crystal decanter was created by talented young designer Stephanie Balini and features an exquisite cabochon with an 18-carat gold-plated label.

In 1765, Irish aristocrat Richard Hennessy – who had been serving in the French forces – founded an eaux-de-vie trading business in Cognac. Under his son James, the company expanded rapidly and the name Hennessy has been interlinked with the history of cognac ever since. Today Hennessy is the uncontested leader in cognac, its X.O, Paradis and Richard Hennessy are benchmarks of excellence in the world of cognacs and icons of refinement and luxury. This success is far from simply fortuitous, reflecting an unyielding focus on quality. What’s more, the talents of seven generations of Master Blenders from the Fillioux family have enabled Hennessy to constitute the most remarkable reserves of rare eaux de vie in the world. Just arrived in the UK, the Hennessy Paradis Impérial is the newest edition to the Hennessy prestige range and an exclusive cognac that reinterprets the 19th-century blend commissioned by the Russian Imperial Court.
