Overview

Tasting Note:
This unique malt has had six hand selected finishes: vintage Oloroso butts, Marsala barrels, Bourbon barrels, vintage Cabernet Sauvignon barriques, Port pipe barrels and Madeira drums. This combination of different woods create a deep, rich and complex spirit. An aromatic symphony of thick, chunky orange peel marmalade and Christmas pudding follows through to a truly memorable palate. Bold flavours of toffee, dark chocolate, orange peel and crushed almonds with warm vanilla notes and ripe red fruits. Sensational throughout – should be sipped and savoured.

The Dalmore distillery has been producing whiskies in the Highlands since 1839. Their bottles can be identified by the signature Dalmore (12-pointer) stag’s head. This iconic emblem dates back to 1263, when the ancestor of the late owners, Clan MacKenzie, saved King Alexander III of Scotland from being gored by a stag whilst out hunting.

Nestled in the northern Highlands, the distillery overlooks the Cromarty Firth and sources its soft, full-bodied water from the River Alness, which flows through the nearby forest from Loch Morie. The craftsmanship employed at the distillery is known as alchemistic artistry and features a unique process of dynamic distillation, sublime maturation and harmonious fusion. It is this more esoteric and artisan philosophy that ensures the continued creation of a malt which is best summed up by whisky guru Jim Murray, as one of "the most undervalued" and flavourful single Highland malt whiskies.
