In 1833, Louis Roederer inherited the Champagne company founded in 1776 by his uncle. He immediately gave it his own name and set about spreading its reputation throughout all of Europe. He concentrated his efforts on Russia, and it was not long before the Tsar himself was drinking Monsieur Roederer's Champagne.

In fact, it became such a favourite of Tsar Alexander II that he asked Roederer to reserve the best cuvée for him every year. Using only the best grapes from the best Crus, from over 500 acres, they are fermented separately in small, steel vats with the Réserve wines stored in barrels. This gives Roederer Champagne, their distinctive style: rich, round, toasted and highly complex. Louis Roederer is the sole Champagne House to have such an extensive Réserve Wine Cellar. This unique luxury is a necessity in Roederer's pursuit of quality.
