Overview

Tasting Note:
This wine is light yellow with some greenish hues and hints of toast and butter on the nose, followed by apple and vanilla aromas. A delayed harvest led to slightly overripe grapes, succeeded by natural fermentation in American oak barrels. The palate is fresh with pleasant vibrant acidity and hints of lemons and limes are followed by overtones of peach and apple. The finish is persistent with excellent balance between the fruit and oak.

  • A wine, an international brand, a region in Northern Spain. The harvesting of wine in La Rioja (Region) has an ancient lineage with origins dating back to the Phoenicians and the Celtiberians, written evidence dates from 873a.d. The King of Navarra and Aragon gave the first legal recognition of Rioja wine in 1102. In 1560, harvesters from Longares chose a symbol to represent the quality of the wines. In 1635, the mayor of Logroño prohibited the passing of carts through streets near wine cellars, in case the vibrations caused a deterioration of the quality of the wine. Several years later, in 1650, the first document to protect the quality of Rioja wines was drawn up. In 1852, Luciano Murrieta created the first fine wine of the Duque de la Victoria area, having learned the process in Bordeaux. Around this time there were two families the Artacho family and Rafael Carreras producing wines in the area around Cenicero who in 1890 formed Bodegas Riojanas. In 1892, the Viticulture and Oenology Station of Haro was founded for quality-control purposes. In 1902, a Royal Decree determining the origin of Rioja wines is promulgated. The Consejo Regulador (Regulating Council) was created in 1926 with the objective of limiting the zones of production, expanding the warranty of the wine and controlling the use of the name "Rioja". Since its beginnings Bodegas Riojanas has been known for the quality of its wines and now covers the D.O.s of Rioja, Toro, Rueda, Ribera Del Duero, Rias Baixas and Cava.
