The LFW SS16 Beauty Look: Blue-Eyed Girl
For London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016, we’ve been behind the scenes scouting out the top beauty look for you to try now. While it seems that New York’s flawless base travelled across the Atlantic, dazzling blue eyes reigned supreme. If the idea of blue eyeshadow gives you ‘80s-throwback chills, think again. SS16’s blues are ultra-modern, chic and flattering for all.
Lucia Pica, Chanel’s Global Make-Up and Colour Designer, created a stand-out blue wash across the eyes for Roksanda’s show. Emulate the look using a blend of Chanel LE CRAYON YEUX in Blue Jean and OMBRE ESSENTIELLE Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Swing. Carefully buff out into a rounded shape both on the lid and under the eye for full impact.
If a full eyelid of blue shadow isn’t for you, be inspired by the touch of glitter seen at Sophia Webster’s beautifully surreal Mermaid Launderette presentation. Simply dot a touch of dark blue glitter to the centre of the lid, and a lighter turquoise at the very corner for instant glamour. Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes To Mesmerise in Cleopatra is perfect for adding a jolt of luminous blue to eyelids, or the classic Bobbi Brown Metallic Eyeshadow is also a firm favourite.
Truly brave beauty aficionados should look to Lucia Pieroni’s look for Mary Katrantzou. Forget eyeshadow or eyes framed with blue liner, it’s all about the lashes. Sticking to the season’s flawless base, Lucia Pieroni painted marine or cyan blue to the central upper and lower lashes to startling effect. Create the look at home with By Terry’s Mascara Terrybly in Terrybleu applied just to the central lashes, framing the width of your iris. Exaggerate the colour by wetting and painting on high-pigment blue eyeliner; Laura Mercier’s Crème Eye Liner is ideal.
