Marc Jacobs Beauty Get The Look

This October the Beauty Halls are getting a Changing Faces beauty takeover, celebrating the arrival of Autumn/Winter 2016 make-up with exciting events and masterclasses. Inspired by the season’s bold colours, we spoke to Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Head UK Make-Up Artist Georgios Chatzimagioglou for a statement eyeliner how-to…

The Prep…
“Use Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer to prime, hydrate and smooth the surface of the skin. It offers great hydration for the skin because it has five elements of coconut inside. It doesn’t contain silicon so it won’t block pores; everything is coconut so it’s like a very light, hydrating lotion.”

The Base…
“For the perfect base use Re(Marc)Able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate. It’s two-times more pigmented than other foundations yet seven-times thinner so it creates flawless skin without looking like make-up has been caked on. You just need a very small amount, mix it with the Coconut Face Primer to make it sheerer and then buff in. Use a face brush, I use The Face III Buffing Foundation Brush, as the foundation is so concentrated it really needs a very good brush to buff it in well.”

The Concealer…
“Dot the Remedy Concealer Pen under the eyes – the palladium applicator means it’s really cooling and the coconut water, caffeine and green tea formula hydrates the skin. Place the concealer right on the cheekbone under the eye then buff it up and out. This means light hitting the front of the face is reflected upwards to brighten the whole eye area. If you just drag it under the eye, which is a common mistake, you stretch the skin and it can create that creasing effect.”

The Glow…
“Use bronzer wherever you think the sun would kiss your skin. That’s usually on the side of the face, leaving the middle of the face light. Leaving the middle with no colour or bronzers connects the middle of the face with the neck for a more natural effect. If you bronze naturally you would never bronze the middle of the neck, so it’s a straight connecting line; it’s all about symmetry.”

The Blush…
“This is where you do the lift and glow to create a natural lift to the face; this is what we call draping. Place the darker blush on top of the cheekbones to give a natural flush, and then use the highlighter shade on top for a natural glow. It reflects and catches the light to give radiance.”

The Eyeliner…
“The easiest way for eyeliner is to just put the point of the Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon in Code Blue where the line would finish on the outside of your eye, drawing inside and slowly building it; I wouldn’t suggest doing it in one line, but small feather strokes. Also, we believe that nothing is perfect at Marc Jacobs Beauty, so we don’t want perfect liners, it’s a smudged eyeliner. Because it’s waterproof you need to be very quick; the moment that you do the line, just smudge it outwards instead of drawing a flick.”

The Mascara…
“Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara gives so much volume with just one coat. The best way to apply is with vertical movements, zig-zagging up. This way you coat the lashes, separate them, build them and create the length and volume you want. Drag the last zig-zag towards the outside corner to create that wide-eye effect.”

The Finished Look…
“I love the look because it breaks the stereotypical black eyeliner wing look, by using vibrant blue eyeliner instead of black. I want to give the feeling that women should be more daring when it concerns their make-up and their beauty. In Nature nothing is perfect. Perfection is boring. I believe that we should not hesitate to try innovative, bold looks.”
