Best Of Beauty: Cannes Film Festival 2014

You can always rely on Cannes for a host of summer hair inspiration, and this year did not disappoint, with tumbling waves, innovative up-dos and braids in abundance.

Cara Delevingne set the style bar high by wearing her long locks in a smooth elegant bun - the perfect way to showcase her dazzling back-drop jewels, while Marion Cotillard continued her series of pretty up-dos with a quirky quiff, offset by slicked-back sides and underpinned ends.

Effortlessly chic, Amber Heard braided the left side of her head into a relaxed plait, leaving the rest of her hair tousled over the shoulder. Our final favourite was Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who proved that simple straight hair worn behind the ear is interesting when combined with dramatic drop earrings.

Red lipstick has long been associated with the great women of Hollywood, and this statement-making shade is still dominating the red carpet. Case in point, this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where scarlet lips were spotted in a wide spectrum of hues.

Blake Lively’s tomato red lipstick shows off her pearly white teeth to perfection, and added a shot of colour to her monochrome look. This classic Hollywood shade was also favoured by model Adriana Lima, who finished her look with minimal eyes and luminous, glowing skin.

Proving red lipstick complements all hair colours, fiery-haired French actress Léa Seydoux opted for a darker shade with a hint of magenta, while Rooney Mara’s matte merlot lips were a modern, edgier take on the trend.
