The Beauty Set: Side-Swept Hair

Side partings stormed the SS14 catwalks, with Versace, Kenzo, Moschino and Missoni all opting for asymmetric hair. Easy to wear and universally flattering, it’s little wonder that the celebrities at this year’s Met Ball took note of this side-swept trend.

There are multiple ways to wear the look, but one of the prettiest is with a side braid. Joan Smalls offset her futuristic purple lips with a neat fishtail plait cascading down her shoulder, while Emma Stone kept her braid textured and added volume at the crown for a more carefree finish.

The traditional Hollywood blow-dry was also updated by moving the parting from centre to side. Blake Lively’s bouncing golden waves were worn over the shoulder to give the illusion of added volume, and Cara Delevingne’s left-swept curls were contrasted with a slicked-back side to show off her model cheekbones.
