Behind The Scenes TOM FORD BEAUTY

When it comes to creating bronzed summer perfection, there’s nothing quite like the TOM FORD Soleil collection. Offering a series of sensuous bronzers, lipsticks and skincare, the collection makes the most of light and shade to highlight your best features for instant model-esque glamour. Read on for top tips to create a flawless summer look...

The Prep…
Cleanse, exfoliate, cleanse again. Depending on your skin you can do a number of things, but you do need a really, really good cleanse. Those with dry skin should opt for the nutrient-rich Purifying Cleansing Oil, while the gently foaming Purifying Gelée Cleanser is ideal for normal to oily skin types.

The Base…
Always start from the centre of the face, using the Traceless Foundation Stick for a dewy finish with good coverage. Dot the foundation under the eyes, a tiny bit on the forehead and the chin and then blend out with the Cream Foundation Brush. Using a brush makes it look really flawless and the cream texture is quick, buildable and dewy.

The Glow…
For a super-glow use Illuminating Protective Primer SPF 12 to beef up the skin, and Bronzing Primer for that tanned look. Essentially, one is illuminating and one is tinted so using them together, all over the face, creates a fine, over-tinted glow. For lighter coverage you can just use the Bronzing Primer as a base - it’s particularly good for dry skin.

The Contour…
The key thing with any highlighting or bronzing is to make the darker parts of the face darker, and the lighter bits lighter. To create a super-bronzy, glowing look brush the fabulous Cream Cheek Colour in Pineo Sol all over the cheeks and right in the middle of the forehead. Using a finger, pull the Illuminate shade in the must-have Shade and Illuminate palette along the bottom of the cheek – really find the cheekbone and drag it out, and then either blend with your finger or use the special contouring brush that comes with the palette. Also, don’t be afraid to put it under your chin or along your jawline to get that chiselled look. You can also use above your temples and just over your eyebrows to create light in the centre of the face.

The Summer Smoky Eye…
The summer eye is a really soft-focus, bronzy, beach-goddess look. Use Crème Color For Eyes in Opale all over the lid to create a soft base, blending up towards the brow bones and into the inner eyes before dabbing Cream and Powder Eye in Naked Bronze onto the centre of the eyelids. Emmanating a distinct '70s vibe, it’s not meant to be perfect - you can blend the colours out with your finger or with the Smoky Eye Brush. Then use a pencil – the High Definition Liner in Ebony is perfect on a dewy, creamy base as it dries quickly and won’t move – to really get into the top lashes. That really creates a thickness in the root and root lift is the key to a thick-looking lash.

The Lipstick…
lipstick for the summer is a must and pinks, corals and brights look amazing with a bronzed look, particularly Ultra-Rich Color in Solar Flair. In place of a lip liner use TOM FORD’s Lip Brush - it’s quite flat with a nice corner on it so it’s really easy to get a nice, straight edge on the lips before filling in with colour.

Must-Haves…
Every woman should invest in a supply of TOM FORD brushes. A noteworthy addition to any make-up kit, the Cheek Brush is tightly packed and really good for placing blusher right on the cheek – unlike some blusher brushes that are too flyaway and they don’t get colour exactly where you want it to be. The new Soleil Blanc Bronze Shimmering Body Oil is another summer favourite. You just spray it on, and because it’s a dry oil, it dries quickly with just the right amount of shimmer and scent.
