Burberry Prorsum AW15
SS15's '70s Revival trend is not going anywhere, not if Christopher Bailey has his way. His Autumn/Winter 2015 collection for Burberry Prorsum was a folkloric vision of whip-stitched suede, luxuriant fringing, patchwork florals and hand-crochet inserts. British singer-songwriter Clare Maguire once again provided the soundtrack. Hits including House Of The Rising Sun and George Harrison’s My Sweet Lord set the free-spirited tone as capes, ponchos and waistcoat-topped smock dresses in muted browns, greens and lilacs hit the catwalk. The show was full of heirloom pieces: the trench, of course, which this season is quilted in vintage florals and paisley, but also a plush, navy shearling cape and patchwork over-the-knee boots. Other highlights included leopard print bucket bags, tasselled V-front boots and long boho evening dresses whose mirrored bodices glinted as the confetti fell at the finale.
Who we saw: Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn cosied up on the front row.
What they wore: Lots of black and leather for Kate and Jourdan while Cara got her hands on a pair of those patchwork over-the-knee boots early.
In a nutshell: The collection’s title, ‘Patchwork, Pattern and Prints’, perfectly summed it up.
