The debut collection from newly-appointed design duo Adrien Caillaudaud and Alexis Martial, Carven’s AW15 collection showcased a more rebellious side to the Parisian girl. Hoping to portray a “Parisian attitude with a London spirit,” the collection was strong and svelte with a distinct retro vibe. Models worked the runway in ‘60s-inspired micro miniskirts, high-waisted tailored trousers and a vivid display of floral jacquards. An assortment of oversized coats represented the outerwear with silhouettes ranging from A-line to architectural and cropped. Offering a sleek and lightweight alternative to leather, eel skin made a notable appearance throughout the presentation providing further evidence of Caillaudaud’s innovative use of unexpected materials. Accessories-wise, chunky shoes paired with pulled-up socks were a prominent fixture. Ranging from monochrome mules to sling-back clogs printed in the collection’s ‘70s-style floral print, the school girl-style footwear added an extra touch of British verve to almost every look.
