"New York never runs out of ideas so I never run out of ideas."

Donna Karan

Donna Karan presented the ultimate New York uniform in her latest ode to the Big Apple. Comprising tailoring, sculpted dresses, layering and shocks of colour, the collection was as diverse as the city itself and played out under an oversized screen that showcased live tweets from the public on what New York means to them. “New York never runs out of ideas so I never run out of ideas,” the designer revealed to us. Highlights included shrunken suiting, borrowed-from-the-boys sweatshirts, and neoprene fit-and-flare frocks in a collection that perfectly fused tailoring and sportswear. Patchwork dresses and languid blazers boasted jewelled panels and hemlines were asymmetrical, whether in pleated chiffon or wool crepe. The colour palette was especially fresh, camel was teamed with tomato red, cyan blue paired with heather grey and plum coupled with navy. But what was Donna’s favourite look? “I loved the beaded coats – the coat has replaced the jacket for the office or eveningwear.”

Who we saw: Singer, Kesha.

What they wore: A black blazer and slicked-back hair.

In a nutshell: Modern classics.
