Isabel Marant AW15
The designer received a standing ovation for what was her best show in seasons. Combining the key components that have become synonymous with the house (tiered mini skirts, Ikat prints and drainpipe trousers) with new elements, such as oversized outerwear and military-inspired tailoring, the Marant aesthetic was given a fresh twist. Chunky, white, cable knit, fisherman sweaters came with sharp shoulders, high-zipped necklines and navy-style buttons on the shoulders. Either shrunken and tucked into flirty, fringed skirts or cocoon-shaped but belted over high-waisted stovepipe trousers, they set the scene for the cosy-meets-edgy silhouette. Tribal-printed anoraks and marbled toggle jackets were paired with flippy minis in chiffon while Breton stripes decorated fitted knits and bodycon sweater dresses. Outerwear was more desirable than ever, with military-esque jackets and buttoned-up pea coats cinched in with thick leather belts for a more feminine feel. For evening, ruffled chiffon mini dresses and jewel-piped silk blouses swathed the tanned limbs that no doubt come with being a Marant girl.
Who we saw: Jade Jagger.
What they wore: A black belted Isabel Marant kaftan dress.
In a nutshell: Girl meets boy, tribal meets military.
