Louis Vuitton AW15
Nicolas Ghesquière brought the futuristic feel of the Fondation Louis Vuitton building’s exterior inside and onto the catwalk for Autumn/Winter 2015. Shaking off last season's 1970s references, modernity was instead felt through a series of densely ribbed sweaters and tank dresses with cut-out yokes and fluted trims as well as shimmery brocade evening dresses. Monochromatic tailoring dominated but often came softened with delicate lace or a slick of leather. Splashes of orange, green and red, along with leopard print, brought a welcome touch of colour. The winter-ready brushed sheepskin coats which opened the show were perhaps some of the most standout pieces of the collection. However, it is the vanity trunk handbags in aluminium, copper and carbon which are destined to be a sell-out. Along with coordinates in the brand’s signature Damier Louis Vuitton check, they helped strike the perfect balance of new and old.
Who we saw: A host of stars including Michelle Williams and Jennifer Connelly.
What they wore: A belted denim dress for Michelle and a printed velvet boho dress for Jennifer.
In a nutshell: Cosmic cool.
