“It is not about one theme – but instead about what women really want to wear and how they want their clothes to make them feel,” Victoria Beckham told us in her show notes. Considering the sub-zero temperatures on the day of the show, the chunky polo necks with sculpted leg-of-lamb sleeves would definitely have ticked the box, as were the oversized tailored coats with exaggerated storm flaps. Where necks weren’t funnelled, they took on a plunging shape – on figure-hugging knitted dresses with exposed zips and strategically-placed slits, they were the epitome of the sleek Victoria Beckham silhouette. The volume that was introduced in SS15 played out on cocoon coats and peaked knitwear for Autumn/Winter while the palette remained sophisticated and restrained, with winter white, inky black, heather grey and navy broken up with the odd jolt of yellow or persimmon. Eveningwear was both dressy and relaxed, with sweater-and-skirt combos that are most definitely on the lust list next season.

Who we saw: The Beckham clan in its entirety.

What they wore: Suits all around for the boys and a darling black dress with white collar and cuffs for Harper.

In a nutshell: Self-assured and sophisticated.
