Chloé AW16

The lowdown: With seasons blurring, climates changing and travelling the world now a norm, designers have been challenged to produce collections to accommodate all these factors, often with mixed results. Chloé's Clare Waight Keller, however, manages to get it right season after season with her clever mix of romantic, girly dresses and more structured pieces - starchy denim in the summer and tailoring, for instance, in the winter.

This time around the designer was inspired by great escapes, and particularly the adventures of Anne-France Dautheville, the French journalist who travelled solo on a motorcycle throughout the world's deserts in the early Seventies. Cue a delicious line-up of buttery-soft pieces, including motocross jackets, skinny jumpsuits, overalls and culottes in shades of chocolate and rust contrasted against gauzy, chiffon peasant dresses and ruffled blouses in a palette of ivory and pastels. Not only the ideal fusion of masculine and feminine, tough and soft but also suitable for both summer and winter, so long as you nail your layering technique. Accessories were perfectly complementary, with block-heel biker boots and double-strap satchels accompanying every look.

Who we saw: Actress Clémence Poésy
