The lowdown: "I'm really into music lately and looking to it for inspiration," Jenny Packham told us backstage. Last season the designer turned to the rockers of the Seventies, including Nick Cave, Mick Jagger and the late David Bowie, and for AW16 inspiration came from the club scene of the Eighties and early Nineties in glam cities like Paris and Monaco as captured in the photographs of Ross Whitaker. "I started with the colour palette - a really uplifting, joyous one and went from there," Packham revealed. Cue beaded and sequinned columns in fuchsia, chartreuse and va-va-voom red, complete with thigh-high slits and bell-sleeves. Hologram minidresses featured as well, with key-hole necklines and scalloped edges. Worn with either suede go-go boots or low-heeled patent Mary Janes, they were both saucy and demure.

For those wishing a less spangly approach there was a delicate mauve chiffon gown with a ruffled bodice and a pale pink fringed ensemble cinched in with a wide navy belt that Jenny highlighted as her favourite of the collection. No doubt several of these numbers will be appearing on the red carpet, some perhaps before next season as the designer revealed she is working with a few clients for the Oscars. Watch this space...
