Michael Kors Collection AW16

The lowdown: "Instaglam Fall 2016" Michael Kors declared in his show notes as his troupe made their way down the runway in his signature mix of preppy tailoring and girly dresses. Embellishment was key, whether it was embroidery on denim, feathers on cashmere shells or chains on envelope clutches. Tweed jackets were layered over crisp poplin shirts and cable knit cashmere sweaters while charming florals adorned romantic blouses and dresses. For evening, it was all about molten metallics, with several of the gold and silver numbers crafted in thick brocades or dripping in shiny paillettes. Coats made their statement, with shearlings and oversized furs looking hyper-luxe - an honourable mention goes out to the white shadow fox snowball jacket that appeared over silver-embroidered trousers at the close of the show. The innovation in accessories this season is the camera bag, which was hand-held but could easily be slung across the body. As ever, the show was highly polished, with Freya, Lexi, Kendall et al boasting glowing skin and shiny tresses.
