The lowdown: Versace's not-so-secret weapon has always been its supermodels. Linda, Christy, Claudia, Cindy, Naomi - these were women who knew how to move in shrunken sweaters, glossy leather jackets and micro minis. For her Autumn/Winter 2016 runway unveiling, Donatella called on today's It girls; Karlie, Jourdan, Maria Carla, Gigi, Kendall, Lineisy, to strut their stuff in a line-up of curve-skimming utility jackets, sporty, colour-block dresses and, of course, micro minis, all in a palette of navy and powder blue pepped up with lime green, orange and salmon pink.
Long-sleeve dresses boasted zig-zag cut-outs (representing shards of glass) in contrasting shades while suits came splashed with printed, multicoloured versions of the same jagged designs. Overall, the aesthetic was athletic and favoured daywear over eveningwear, but with over 60 looks in the collection (practically each one modelled by a super), there is sure to be something for everyone.
