Alice + Olivia SS15
"The collection is filled with print and texture and I truly wanted each piece of clothing to almost feel like its own piece of art."
We may have been at legendary Manhattan hotel, The Pierre, for Alice + Olivia's Spring/Summer 2015 presentation but it certainly felt like Versailles. Designer Stacey Bendet was inspired by a visit to the 18th Century palace, reimagining the Hall of Mirrors as a modern-day art installation with fashion as the main objet d'art (although the intricate cupcakes came close to stealing the show). Models in towering wigs sported beaded gowns and satin ankle-length trousers in shades of ivory and Champagne. Daywear including culottes, palazzo pants and pencil skirts came splashed with graphic prints in the style of Matisse, with cobalt blue, coral and aqua brightening up a basic black and white palette. "The collection is filled with print and texture and I truly wanted each piece of clothing to almost feel like its own piece of art," the designer revealed.
