It's official: fringing is a trend for SS15. What started out as a hint in New York and London, and a theme in Seventies-inspired Milan, became what will probably be the leading trend of the season once it hit the Céline catwalk - such is Phoebe Philo's fashion power. Said fringing appeared on black bell bottoms, the hems of tiered white and black sleeveless dresses and even the pockets of a cut-away vest. The sleek monochromatic palette was broken up with occasional pops of colour - a Loden green coat with leather panels, a pair of poppy-red ballet flats, or a red and blue floral-printed dress. Shift dresses in midi lengths featured panels of fly-away fabric that billowed as models walked the runway while vests came decorated with cut-away sides or loops of fabric around the arms at varying heights - almost as if sleeves had been lopped off in chunks. The effect was at once utilitarian (another big trend) and impossibly chic.
