It was a veritable Garden of Eden at Erdem's Spring/Summer show, where guests including Yasmin Le Bon, Alexa Chung and Derek Blasberg sat among lush greenery in anticipation of Erdem Morialioglu's latest offering. Florals, hardly a novelty for Spring/Summer or Erdem, for that matter, were given new lease of life as appliqués or yarn embroidery on cobweb floor-length gowns in a palette of forest green or yellow. Birds of paradise feathers soon appeared in narrow pencil skirts, cap-sleeved dresses and high-neck coats, turning wardrobe staples into exotic showpieces. Meanwhile, tweed jackets had an autumnal air to them, although followed by a parade of monochrome tiered Broderie Anglaise dresses, there was no doubt to which season we were in. The silhouette was long and lean, with the odd fit-and flare number, the stand-out one being a stiff white strapless frock with blind embossed florals. Lace-up brogues or knee-high gladiator sandals toughened up the aesthetic yet somehow managed to bring out the majesty in the clothes.
