Miu Miu SS15
Miu Miu is considered to be the sister label to the esteemed Prada, and never has that been more apparent than with the SS15 collection. From the hallowed wooden arches of the recently redesigned Palais d’Iéna skulked a girl who looked as if she had raided her big sister’s wardrobe. Shiny satin pencil skirts with unmatched waist belts, tuxedo-ruffled crop tops and bow-toed mules all exuded a girly yet brattish attitude. A reoccurring plaid almost felt punk-like. A strong contingent of outerwear featured for a Spring collection; perhaps a teenage revolt against the sun. These predominantly took the form of house coats in white and pastel pink while others were embroidered, trimmed with fur or spliced with suede. There was a reference to John Waters’ bad-taste epic Female Trouble: the SS15 Miu Miu girl playing a parody of the film’s main character Divine, perhaps. Certainly the newgen front row enjoyed the show - expect to see those pencil skirts and bra tops on a red carpet soon.
