Paul Smith SS15
Ever the timeless designer, Paul Smith was more of a trend-setter this time around when he unveiled three major trends taking the season by storm so far: fringing, stripes and utility. Still, there was nothing contrived about the looks - in fact, they had all the nonchalance and effortlessness that should come with dressing for summer. A line-up of relaxed tailoring kicked off the show, followed by fringed skirts over trousers or tunic tops with fringed necklines or hems. From there stripes took over, on drop-waisted dresses, satin bomber jackets and wide-leg trousers with paper-bag waists cinched with leather belts. Oversized pockets decorated culottes in an urban version of the cargo pant while a smattering of flowers peeped through the box-pleats of skirts. With most of the daywear constructed out of sturdy cotton, linen or canvas in a palette of putty, red and grey, eveningwear stood out in its dark, silky languidness.
