Saint Laurent SS15
Hedi continued for SS15 with the Navajo Americana-meets-rock-chic aesthetic that we saw in his pre-collection. The line-up was micro mini, daring, devil may care, and somewhat naughty. Cherry and floral prints along with décolletage-baring dresses paired with lust-worthy leather jackets in every permutation made for a young and of-the-moment collection."
Helen David, Harrods Fashion Director of Womenswear
Each season Hedi Slimane includes a little black book of inspiration with his show invitation, and Spring/Summer's edition ended with the quote, "it's going to be a long night." There was really no better way to describe the parade of Seventies-inspired partywear that awaited us. Jewel-encrusted mini dresses, leather skater skirts, shrunken jackets, plunging necklines, hot pants galore and sparkle-heeled platforms - these were clothes perfect for Slimane's late night-loving fans, including Cara Delevingne, who took to the runway with plenty of 'I'm with the band' attitude and It Girl Daisy Lowe, who sat on the front row clad head-to-toe in Saint Laurent. Denim, a feature on SS15's runways, appeared in microscopic proportions as short shorts or mini skirts with shredded edges and all the looks were teamed with super-sheer stockings (we're talking 5 denier, if that), signalling the death of opaque tights once and for all. Slimane's signature elements were updated for the new season: leopard print featured on metallic mini dresses, le smoking took on a Seventies silhouette with long jackets and wide-leg trousers, skinny neck ties came in all colours and black hats were wide-brimmed but structured. Taking over from the hot lips as the kitsch print of the season were punchy florals and stars. These are the key ingredients for staying up all night this season; just add smudged kohl and tousled locks.
Who we saw: Lenny Kravitz, Lou Doillon and Catherine Deneuve
What they wore: Plenty of Saint Laurent leather
