Burberry Prorsum SS16

SS16

"Christopher sent out a beautiful collection of distinctly wearable and commercial dresses paired with Burberry-style military jackets and monogrammed nylon backpacks."

The lowdown: With Alison Moyet on vocals (accompanied by a 32-piece orchestra) and a killer front row (Kate, Sienna, Cara, Poppy, Suki, Paloma, Benedict), Christopher Bailey presented his Spring/Summer 2016 Burberry Prorsum in Hyde Park on a rainy London day. Where previous line-ups were folksy or dreamy, this one was filled with practical (but never boring) pieces that will seamlessly slip into the wardrobe. Take the über-functional pea coat with gold buttons and gold-corded button holes, it looked youthful, fresh and cool once again. And the unassuming nylon backpack with the models' initials stamped onto them and dangling from one shoulder, the feel was more arm candy than school compulsory. For dress-up time, the Little Black Dress received a crochet and lace makeover and the gown was taken over by carpet-sweeping satin slip dresses. Like many of the collections this season, this Spring/Summer line-up veered on the autumnal - a sign of our changing climate and customers' in-season shopping desires. All the more reason to invest in a 'go-anywhere, anytime' piece.

"Christopher sent out a beautiful collection of distinctly wearable and commercial dresses paired with Burberry-style military jackets and monogrammed nylon backpacks. Moyet transfixed the audience; meanwhile, the collection felt fresh and pretty," said Helen David, Harrods Fashion Director of Womenswear, Women's Shoes, Accessories, Fine Jewellery, and Childrenswear, of the show.

Who we saw: Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller, Poppy Delevingne, Tanya Burr, Luke Treadaway, Benedict Cumberbatch and Suki Waterhouse - to name a few!

What they wore: Head-to-toe Burberry
