The lowdown: For their debut collection for DKNY, designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, who also helm their own label Public School, picked up right where Donna Karan left off: by paying homage to The Big Apple. For starters they chose a new location, One World Trade Center, itself a site of remembrance for the city. And then there was their note: "Growing up in New York left an indelible impression on us. It seemed the world was our backyard. It gave us every opportunity. To run. To dream. To participate. Today, it's given us another chance to create and hopefully contribute in a way we could never have imagined. We're honoured to share this moment with you all. Thank you Donna. Thank you New York." When it came to the clothes, the duo stayed true to Donna's sporty aesthetic (pinstripe suiting, bodysuits, jersey tees) but upped the edge factor with asymmetrical wrap dresses, tanks with drawstring hems and plenty of deconstructed shirting. Keeping the palette minimal, strictly black, white, charcoal and blue added to the urban feel of the collection.

Who we saw: Singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson

What they wore: A white suit and chic cropped hair
