The lowdown: This season Riccardo Tisci moved his Givenchy show from the end of the fashion calendar in Paris to the very beginning in New York on the 14th anniversary of 9/11. With the sun setting across Pier 26, a troupe of performers took to the stage in a moving interpretive dance before Tisci’s favourite model, Mariacarla Boscono, opened the collection in an ivory camisole and black, floor-sweeping skirt. The designer’s signature monochrome palette continued to play out on asymmetrical slip dresses, tailed tuxedo jackets, beaded shifts and softly-tailored coats. There was an audible gasp when Joan Smalls strutted down the runway in a voluminous feathered ball gown and the boys put in an appearance in slim, razor-sharp suiting and pointed shoes. Continuing the trend of last season’s gothic-meets-tribal face jewellery, models donned gold studs and, in some cases, lace on ears, noses and cheeks.
Who we saw: Liv Tyler, Lara Stone and Julia Restoin Roitfeld to name a few
What they wore: A variety of vampy black dresses
