Louis Vuitton SS16
The lowdown: Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection for Louis Vuitton was inspired by heroines in video games and the designer’s penchant for sci-fi. Sending models down the runway with leather band-clad hands, the looks were urban, modern and certainly distinctive. Masculine influences appeared in the form of leather waistcoats, baggy boiler suits and slouchy vests. Waistcoats are big for SS16 and on this runway they were worn over dresses, cropped tees and Edwardian-style frilly blouses. The collection’s palette was a mish-mash of black, greys and white, with the odd pop of bright red or bubblegum pink and shoes came in the way of patent loafers, ankle-high cowboy boots and, as with many of the shows for SS16, the ever-present flatform which, for next summer, is going nowhere.
Who we saw: Alicia Vikander
What they wore: A black and white dress with a pretty, frilled collar and Mary Jane shoes
