The lowdown: For Spring/Summer 2016, the team at MaxMara went all-out nautical with a sea of stripes on heavily beaded skirts and cotton maritime sweaters, primary colours and knot-printed asymmetrical silk dresses. Basic drawings reminiscent of Jean Cocteau's child-like doodles appeared as sailboats and stars on T-shirts, while naval basics such as the pea coat and sailor trousers with gold buttons were teamed with sun-bleached white separates. The line-up was bold, with its cerulean blue, sunny yellow and bright red palette but the silhouette remained uncomplicated, which is exactly as summer dressing should be. Traditional songs of the sea, compiled by DJ Johnny Dynell, accompanied the looks down the runway for an authentic - and lighthearted - maritime feel.
Who we saw: Anna dello Russo
