Peter Pilotto SS16

The lowdown: For SS16, designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos were inspired by the utilitarian spirit of a desert safari but with a Mediterranean twist - hence all the crisp cotton fused with delicate smocking, which added a modern edge to an age-old trend. Opening with a uniform-like belted waistcoat in denim blue over a swishy skirt with a thigh-high slit, the duo kept their silhouettes perfectly balanced: where the upper part was ruffled, smocked, tiered and frilled, the lower half stayed lean and vice versa. Macramé lace came in soft pastel hues, creating a blurred, mirage-effect on the clothes, but were toughened up with contrast-colour chunky zips and elastic-strap sleeves.

Who we saw: Yasmin and Amber Le Bon

What they wore: A navy blouse and trousers for Yasmin, and a pale pink peplum top and matching skirt for Amber
