The lowdown: For Miuccia Prada, more is more this season: there were metallic stripes on skirts, coats dripping in paillettes, oversized bauble earrings, bandage strap shoes... But on closer inspection at the cacophony of styles, there were some seriously wearable looks. Skirt suits with boxy jackets came in tweedy checks with contrast-print panels on the fronts of the skirts. They were really rather conservative, especially when paired with boxy top-handle bags, although Mrs Prada couldn't resist adding some ornament by way of delicate beaded lace overlays on necklines. Drop-waist silk dresses in clashing prints were demure in their midi-lengths and stripes, shaping up to be one of summer's biggest trends, appeared on skirt suits in panels of suede, vinyl and metallic leather. As usual, the collection managed to be both nostalgic (that Seventies style is not disappearing any time soon) and futuristic - it's Mrs Prada's seasonal gift to the fashion world.
