Proenza Schouler SS16
The lowdown: One of New York Fashion Week's hottest tickets, the Proenza Schouler show took place in a glass building at sunset - the perfect backdrop for a collection that was dressed to the nines. Design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez managed to tick all the big trends emerging for Spring/Summer in one crowd-pleasing collection, including tiered gowns (seen at Oscar de la Renta and Dennis Basso), red (also seen at Oscar and Victoria Beckham), shirting (seen at Milly, DKNY, Michael Kors) and bare shoulders (seen everywhere). Cocktail dresses were the order of the day, appearing in black or white (and often both) in summer tweeds, thick lace or cotton jacquards featuring cut-out shoulders and festooned with trailing black satin ribbons. Lace shirts were buttoned to the collar and came above gently flared, cropped trousers while jackets were cut generously and hit the mid-thigh for a new take on proportions. But the real showstoppers were a series of red dresses crafted from feather chain links and adorned with beading.
