Roland Mouret SS16
The lowdown: With a flip of her hair, a crop top and tiered skirt-sporting Lindsey Wixson opened Roland Mouret's SS16 show, reassuring us that this is the girl we all want to be next season. The designer, who is celebrating 10 years since he first issued his famous Galaxy dress, was inspired by a Seventies French TV show, Aujourd'hui Madame, with his mid-length hemlines and off-the-shoulder décolletages. Colours ranged from saffron to citrus orange, tomato red and peppermint green, with navy and crisp white serving as perfect summer pairings, while prints came in the shape of palm leaves. Shapes were at once retro and modern with cut-out tops, culottes, plunging jumpsuits and and tiered, ruffled skirts in cotton silk, plissé and lightweight knits. Mouret's technical construction remained strong with shaped basket-weave jackets and structured sleeveless coats. One thing's for sure, 10 years on and Roland's garments still do a body good.
