The Hot Ticket: Hollywood Glamour
Defined by diamonds, to-die-for dresses and icons including Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich and Joan Crawford, the Golden Age of cinema is celebrated in suitably sparkling style in Hollywood Glamour: Fashion and Jewelry from the Silver Screen at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
With original gowns displayed alongside exquisite jewels, the exhibition explores how the fashion and jewellery designers of the day contributed to creating the undeniable lustre of Hollywood’s silver screen.
“The sumptuous dresses in the exhibition illustrate how fashion was an ideal expression of Hollywood’s distinctive brand of escapist fantasy,” explains curator Michelle Finamore. “Fabrics such as metallic lamé woven with real gold and silver enhanced starlets’ otherworldly aura, offering the movie viewer a taste of supreme luxury for the price of a movie ticket.”
Also featuring photographs, set and costume designs and a ‘silver screen’ playing highlights from famous films, step back in time and prepare to be dazzled.
Hollywood Glamour: Fashion and Jewelry from the Silver Screen runs until Sunday 8th March at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
