The Milan Fashion Week SS15 Style List
Weighing in at number three on the Fashion Week SS15 Shows schedule, Milan delivered a confident showcase from the super-brands with Prada, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi and MaxMara each putting their own unique edge on the new season.
The SS15 Shows...
While for Autumn Winter 2014 it's all about the Mod '60s trend, for the Italian fashion houses, the '70s rule supreme as Gucci sent sailor-style trousers teamed with chunky platform sandals, boho fur gilets topping maxi skirts in a rich rust palette, followed by MaxMara who took inspiration from iconic actress Anjelica Huston in her modelling days for the house back in 1971 - think prints, pussybow blouses, floppy hats and duster coats. At Roberto Cavalli, the designer opted for lashings of leopard print, fringing, and general boho vibes, and for Just Cavalli it was all-out revival with super glamorous chiffons, ruffles and flashes of decadent gold.
Masters at creating the must-have pieces every season, Fendi Silvia Venturini Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld took an energetic new direction for the brand, with vibrant florals emblazoned on silk minis, bomber jackets and plenty of denim and peekaboo slashed leather.
Exploring the high-low trend, Miuccia Prada delivered yet another stunning show for Spring Summer 2015 with uniform-like dresses, richly brocaded circle skirts, silk shirts with raw edges and bronze studded platform clogs - no doubt set to be the It item of the season.
And if AW14 was anything to go by, Jeremy Scott for Moschino enjoys delivering high impact collections each season, nailing it yet again for SS15 with his Barbie-inspired collection - think bubblegum pink pearl studded separates, Hawaiian tropic bra tops and shorts, not to mention disco gold bustiers and trousers.
For Etro, SS15 took a tribal edge with boho-Navajo printed layers, fringing and earthy palettes, while Missoni journeyed into the sunsets of Capri and St Barths for a stunning palette teamed with tie-dye effects and the house's signature crochet, meanwhile Donatella Versace took a style u-turn, opting for a more pared-down collection with boxy jackets, asymmetric skirts - with a sports luxe edge.
Head of Content and Editorial at harrods.com Maria Milano says; "Milan is where the big powerhouses of fashion take to the stage: Prada, Versace, Gucci, Cavalli... it also oozes with glamour.
"This season the Missoni show stood out in all its ombre glory, and Prada made a statement with its take on austere vs opulence."
Maria says; "Trends on the runway include boxfresh white trainers as seen at Giorgio Armani, micro bags as seen at Fendi, Moschino and Prada and plenty of fringing, as seen at Etro, Armani and Just Cavalli."
What The Fashion Crowd Are Wearing...
Maria says: "Off the runways editors are favouring their low-heeled ankle-strap sandals, pool slides or trainers - the look is definitely more relaxed than in previous seasons."
